Collaborators

IGAC-Monsoon Asian and Oceania Networking Group (MANGO): As one of IGAC Working Groups, MANGO was launched and we are in close collaboration with atmospheric chemists in East, South East, and South Asia.

Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE): Starting in 2017, based on Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between NIES and SYKE, we are in close collaboration with SYKE scientists on BC (black carbon) and broadly SLCFs (Short-Lived Climate Forcers) with the main counterparts being Niko Karvosenoja, Ville-Veikko Paunu, and Mikael Hilden.

Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), India: Starting in 2021, based on Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NIES and ARIES, we are in close collaboration with ARIES scientists on air quality and climate change with the main counterpart being Manish Naja.

In-service Aircraft for a Global Observing System (IAGOS): As part of GOSAT-GW project, we have close partnership with IAGOS, in particular, Taiwanese NCU (National Central University), German Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, and French CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) on NOx observations by passenger aircraft in Asia with the main counterparts being Kuoying Wang, Andreas Petzold, Valerie Thouret, Philippe Nedelec, and Hannah Clark.

Atmospheric Remote Sensing Group, Heidelberg University: As part of GOSAT-GW project, we have close partnership with Atmospheric Remote Sensing group at Heidelberg University on GHG observations by compact FT-IT instruments onboard ships with the main counterpart being Andre Butz.

International Global Atmospheric Chemistry (IGAC): In order to promote international collaborations, we commit ourselves to IGAC’s four focal areas – Advancing Knowledge, Fostering Community, Building Capacity, and Engaging Society.

International Commission on Atmospheric Chemistry and Global Pollution (iCACGP): In order to promote international collaborations, we commit ourselves to iCACGP’s activities.

Future Earth: In order to contribute to global sustainability from the viewpoint of Atmospheric Chemistry, we commit ourselves to Future Earth’s activities.

Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS): In order to promote international collaborations on satellite observations of atmospheric compositions, we commit ourselves to CEOS’s activities.

WMO/GAW: In order to promote international collaborations on monitoring of atmospheric compositions, we commit ourselves to WMO/GAW’s activities.

Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM): In order to promote international collaborations on ozone standards, we commit ourselves to BIPM’s activities.
